FAQs

Does the age of my scar matter?

No scars seem to respond no matter their age

My scar doesn’t seem to cause me any discomfort or issues – do I need to get treatment on it?

Even the smallest scar may be having affects under the skin that can’t be seen.  Even more so if there is another scar nearby.  It may also be causing issues at distance to the scar.   It is during the treatment that the therapist (and often the client) can feel these connections and adhesions.

My surgery was by keyhole – that’s hardly any scarring – do I really need it worked on?

Even with keyhole surgery there is damage to tissues which could be causing unwanted tensions and adhesions.  Externally the scarring may be small but internally, depending on the surgery, there may well be considerably more disruption to the tissues than you can imagine, not least the tracking caused by using the endoscope.

How many treatments will I need?

Honestly I can’t say here!  Every scar is different depending on age, size, location on the body and how your body responds to treatment.  Whilst many scars can feel fully resolved and need no further treatment after one or two sessions; there are others (often but not always linked to cancer treatments) that may ultimately need maintenance treatments.  Other considerations may be that you can only tolerate shorter treatments i.e. less treatment time but weekly or bi-weekly treatments.  This is something that will be discussed at each session taking into account your unique personal circumstances, making sure you are happy with the treatment plan devised for you.
